Introduction
In order to apply the right design application to this project, three types of facilities have been analyzed. This precedent analysis is broken down into three categories: culture grounds, rehabilitation centers, and resorts. Within each category, two spaces have gone through a thorough precedent analysis to compare and contrast their strengths and weaknesses. The key elements of comparison are the interaction space, use of nature, housing area and the use of light. Overall the spaces will be evaluated to see whether they have any of the program elements that are anticipated within this project: therapy, living, interact, create, and play.

Why Taos Pueblo was chosen:
This space was one of the key factors to this research as a culture ground. Regarding the location of this project, the culture grounds of the surrounding area was critical. Through this analysis, the importance of a community and family as well as the strong bond with one another can be seen along with the direct interaction with nature. It is clear that the natives of this area treat their natural resources very well and use them to their full potential. The homes and buildings of this area also shows the unique structure and architecture that has been built within the community throughout history.

Why Cherokee Village was chosen:
This space was another key factor to this research as a culture ground. The Cherokee Village has different customs and rituals/beliefs then those of the Taos Pueblo. However analyzing these grounds help compare and contrast the Native American culture within American. This village acts as a supporting statement of the current existence of Native American tribes; it even shows how the tribes both began and developed over time. Unlike the Taos Pueblo, the Cherokees have committed more into revolving around modern times. Through this analysis, it is apparent that the culture and the bond of a community still plays a key role within these grounds. Like the Taos Pueblos, this area is surrounded by nature with many outdoor activities. However different structures of the home architectures can be seen as well as a more tourist interaction attraction, rather than the living community of the Pueblos.

Why English Mountain Recovery was chosen:
This space was one of the key factors to this research as a rehabilitation center. Because this project is focused more on the mix of recreation and rehabilitation, this program was a perfect fit. There is no hospital feel to the space and is more of a camp ground. The patients are treated as family with a common ground, their addiction. Healing is seen through the interactions with nature and the bond with the community. The program itself is isolated inside the mountains and forests to allow the patients to let go of their everyday life.

Why Vista Taos was chosen:
This space was another of the key factors to this research as a rehabilitation center. The location of this clinic allows to analyze the rehabilitation centers that already exist in Taos, New Mexico. Like the English Mountain Recovery Center, Vista Taos does not have a hospital feel. It has a more home like setting that interconnects with the homes of the Taos Pueblo. The architecture structure is designed very similar to those of the homes within the Pueblos, allowing a connection to the community as well as culture of the area. Vista Taos is also completely surrounded by nature and isolated from most part of society within the deserts. The patients can then relax in a family care environment with the limitations of distractions from the outside world

Why Brientenbush Hot Springs was chosen:
This space was one of the key factors to this research as a resort. Rather than researching recreation centers, resorts seemed to fit the criteria a bit more. Not only does one enjoy their time at resorts, but they are allowed time of healing and relaxation. In a way this can be seen as therapy, within the label of rehabilitation. Brientenbush was a great selection because it did just that. It was an area surrounded by nature, and the outside world blocked out. There is a community bond that can be felt on these grounds as well. Activities, meditations, massages, and relaxations of all sorts are also offered at this resort. Brientenbush is labeled a place gifted by nature to mankind.

Why International Seon Center was chosen:
This space was another key factor as a resort. However the Seon Center is a religious temple, so it can be argued whether it is a resort or temple. Besides the fact that it is a temple, it is more of a place to relax as one can learn of new cultural grounds. All religions of any race and age are welcomed into this space for a two day program of mediation. In a way this center can also be seen as a way of therapy without the label of rehabilitation. This center has also chosen because it shows the interactions between modern and history, interactions with cultures/beliefs, and the placement of ancient architecture structure within the fast city.

Overall Connection:
Overall this precedent analysis help grab key elements for this project. By comparing different grounds for the culture grounds, rehabilitation centers, and resorts, an overall connection was found between all of them as well. For the lighting of all spaces, it seems there were abundant sources of natural light. When artificial lighting was used, it was more warm than cool, creating a home like environment. All spaces were places one could go and relax, heal and recover. Seon Center had a respect for nature, but was not surrounded by nature unlike the other five in which was completely isolated within nature. However all spaces had a restriction of any use of technology whether it be for therapy practices or that the space was out of range. The culture and experience gathered from each location was also a key factor in all locations as well. Community bond played a major role within all facilities as well. Housing was provided in most spaces, but most were not permanent residences and consisted of semi-private rooms. Lastly, wood seemed to be the major source of structure for the architecture build.
